Nude Man Who Stopped Times Square Arraigned, Lawyer Says 'He's Totally Fine'
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Some people have an interesting interpretation of the term "totally fine."
Krit McClean, the male model who stopped traffic in Times Square last week with a naked rant that included demands to meet presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump and a version of the Chicken Dance, has been charged with public lewdness, disorderly conduct and exposure of a person. Although he's currently being kept in a psychiatric ward at Bellevue Hospital, his attorney claims that he has no "significant mental health issues."
DNAInfo reports that McClean was arraigned from Bellevue's forensic psychiatric ward on Wednesday via video feed. He has since been moved to the hospital's general psychiatric ward "until they think he's fine enough to leave," according to his lawyer Daniel Ollen.
As reported last week by EDGE, McClean, 21, grabbed headlines when he went on a rant in Times Square that started with him stripping down to his birthday suit in front of the Disney Store. It ended with him dodging police and falling 16 feet from the iconic red glass steps atop the TKTS booth to the pavement below, missing the inflatable bag the NYPD placed there to catch him.
In the middle of McClean's rant, he demanded a meeting with Donald Trump and spoke of his love of fashion.
"I love fashion, it's taught me so much!" he yelled.
It was later learned that McClean (who would turn heads fully clothed) is a Columbia University undergrad who is spending a gap year working as a fashion model with the famous Ford Modeling agency.
According to DNAInfo, police described McClean's erratic demeanor during his nude stand-off as "extremely combative" and expressed concerns that he may have been suicidal.
"Suicidal, no way," his attorney Ollensaid."His current state is, he's totally fine. I don't think he has any significant mental health issues."
Ollen added that his client was not on drugs at the time.
