Business Was Booming for Cleveland's Gay Escorts During the GOP Convention

Although the Democrats' convention is in Philadelphia, closeted Republicans turned Cleveland into another "city of brotherly love" this week.
As reported by EDGE this week, the "Men Seeking Men" page on Craig's List in Cleveland saw an uptick in out-of-towners looking for casual sex during the GOP National Convention. But for those who make male escorting their business in the city, the gathering of Republicans was nothing short of a windfall.
According to a report in The New York Post, business was booming for gay escorts in Cleveland all week with convention attendees - many of them married - looking for some action.
One escort told The Post on Wednesday that he had already earned $1,600 since Monday - more than six times his usual weekly haul.
"I normally only make $200 to $300, but I've been seeing lots of guys in hotels downtown," the escort told The Post, noting that the boom in business happened around the Quicken Loans Arena where the convention was held.
One gay escort who charges $250 an hour told The Post he's been making about $800 per day since the convention kicked off - all from men visiting from Florida, Louisiana and Washington, DC.
And while the gay escorts had a great week, the same can't be said for female sex workers.
"Business is slower than usual," a female escort told The Post. "I haven't been getting any calls."
