Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Jan Sold Her House for $3.9 Million

Here's a story of a wise investor.

In 1969, when Eve Plumb was 11 years old and busy playing perennial middle child Jan on "The Brady Bunch," she bought a beach house in Malibu, CA. for $55,300. Last week, she sold the house for $3.9 million. Adjusting for inflation, Plumb made over 10 times her original investment on the property.

The house, an 850 square foot cottage, built in the 1950's, is a far cry from its flashier neighbors. But the house sits on some prime property - Escondido Beach.

According to Page Six, the buyer intends to tear down Plumb's house and build a 3,500 ultramodern abode with floor-to-ceiling windows and a retractable "moon roof."

"This was one of the highest prices ever paid for an undeveloped lot in Malibu," Justin Juarez, a spokesman for the real estate firm said. "Both we and the sellers felt this was an amazing price to attain for this humble beach cottage!"

The New York Daily News reports that at the time Plumb bought the property with the help of her parents, she was starting her five-year-run on "The Brady Bunch," but was already a veteran child actor with credits on "Gunsmoke" and "The Big Valley" on her resume.

The sale is a welcome windfall for the 58-year-old actress who never received a dime of residual payment for any of the re-runs of "The Brady Bunch."
