Cat's Eye

A collection of Stephen King's short stories were brought together in a somewhat comedic anthology back in the mid-'80s. "Cat's Eye" makes its Blu-ray debut in a passable high-definition transfer of this low-budget film. Most of the three segments are in the vein of classic "Twilight Zone" episodes as opposed to anything horrific.

"Quitter's Inc." is the film's first story and stars James Woods as a nicotine-addicted married man. When he goes to fight his addiction at a famed local company, he learns quitting smoking has deadly results.

In "Cat's Eye's" most thrilling segment, "The Ledge" features actor Robert Hays as a gambler who bets he can walk around the perimeter of a high-rise building without falling.

"The Master" stars young Drew Barrymore, fresh off her leading performance in another Stephen King film, "Firestarter." This story has Drew wanting to keep a stray cat in order to protect her from a troll who lives behind her bedroom wall.

Each story lasts approximately 30 minutes and is tied together by the cat mentioned in the film's title.

In the special features department, Warner Brothers offers up an audio commentary by director Lewis Teague, who mostly talks about working with Stephen King. The "Cat's Eye's" trailer is also included, which harps on the fact that the film belongs to the works of horror writer King.
