Aliens 30th Anniversary Edition

Home collectors, casual viewers and cinema lovers alike can now (and should) snatch the latest copy of James Cameron's "Aliens," now available on a "30th Anniversary Edition" Blu-ray limited edition set.

Arguably considered in many circles as one-upping Ridley Scott's original, "Aliens" was a critical smash and a blockbuster sequel in 1986. Sigourney Weaver gives one of her best performances as Ellen Ripley, the sole survivor of the Nostromo's deadly encounter with the titular creature from the first film. The warfare ensures after Ripley returns to Earth following 57 years of hyper sleep, then goes back to where her nightmare began with a team of Colonial Marines in tow.

The film is action packed, visual stunning, massively entertaining, and narratively tight. This limited edition anniversary Blu-ray includes both the 1986 original film, as well as the 1991 Special Edition (I say stick with the original, but that's just me). The special edition does come with an introduction by James Cameron however, while the 1986 version does not.

There's also an audio commentary by Cameron, plus members of the cast and crew, which is really a perfect addition to such a visual masterwork. The movie can still be enjoyed with people talking over the soundtrack. In many ways, depending on who you are, it can even be enhanced.
For music aficionados, the bonus features also include versions of composer James Horner's final theatrical isolated score from the film, as well as his original isolated score.

Add in some deleted and extended scenes, and we've got a worthy re-release on our hands. However, what truly makes this a limited edition collector's item is the set of collectible art cards that come inside. Even more so, there is a book featuring art from the Dark Horse Comics "Aliens" series, with a brand new cover created just for this 30th Anniversary release.

Quite simply, if you love the movie or have always wanted to pursue it, this is the release to get.
