Fans of John Waters' films are mourning Kim McGuire who died on Wednesday. The actress, best known for her portrayal of bad girl Mona "Hatchet-Face" Malnorowski in Waters' 1980 film "Cry Baby" died on Wednesday. She was 60.

McGuire was featured in numerous films and television series during her acting career that mostly spanned the 1990's. A 2015 "where are they now" feature in Life and Style Magazine reported she was supposed to star in the film adaptation of Stephen King's "Misery," but was replaced by Kathy Bates. Bates would go on to win an oscar for that role.

But it was the role of teenage gang member Hatchet-Face that would immortalize McGuire in filmdom. When Waters cast the role (which originally intended for Divine and described as a woman with the body of Jane Mansfield and the face of Margaret Hamilton), he placed a print advertisement that read: "Wanted: Girl with a good body and an alarming face who is proud of it".

According to a GoFundMe page set up to assist McGuire's husband, in addition to her film career, the character actress was also an accomplished attorney who passed the bar in multiple states. Sadly, the last decade was difficult for McGuire, who had made New Orleans her home and lost everything in Hurricane Katrina.
