Gay for Pay Irish Soccer Star Opens Up About His Porn Past

Irish soccer star Cathal McCarron is opening up about his gay for pay porn past in his tell-all autobiography, "Out Of Control," set to be released this week.

According to McCarron, 28, he agreed to his brief gay porn stint in 2014 to fund his increasing gambling habit. Telling The Irish News how he initially responded to a newspaper advertisement looking for male models, McCarron said, "The company was based in a fancy office block in north London and looked like a legit model agency. It didn't take me long to discover it was something more."

"The money was an obvious appeal, but the risk was still too great. They sold it to me on the basis that they only dealt with US hotels, where the porn was exclusive to the hotels' pay-per-view channels," he added.

McCarron initially did a solo video for 200 but eventually agreed to appear to a hunky daddy type for 3000.

"When the filming was over I felt physically sick, disgusted that I had allowed myself to sink into such an abyss of degradation and humiliation," McCarron said.

His seller's remorse, however, would be short-lived.

"As soon as I was handed a brown envelope with 3,000, that feeling began to dissipate. I walked across the road into a betting office and gambled away half of my earnings," he said.

By 7:30 p.m. the following day most of the money had been spent.

The porn stint would eventually turn McCarron into a gay icon of sorts in Ireland.

"Every day, I still get online approaches, or some form of social media connectivity, from the gay community. It's embarrassing when some man asks to meet you, but I don't look on that as a negative," he told The Irish News.

"I completely respect the lesbian and gay community, because I really appreciated their messages of support when so many others wanted to bury me."
