Stanley Kubrick's Daughter Urges Boycott of Dr. Phil's Shelley Duvall Special
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The Internet was stunned this week when Dr. Phil released a promo for an upcoming special that features actress Shelley Duvall, who is most known for her role in director Stanley Kubrick's seminal film "The Shining." Looking completely unrecognizable, Duvall reveals in the short clip that she is struggling with mental illness.
In the preview, Duvall claims Robin Williams, with whom she starred in the 1980 film "Popeye," did not commit suicide in 2014 but is alive and "shape shifting." She also tells Dr. Phil she is "very sick" and needs help.
But Kubrick's daughter Vivian Kubrick took to Twitter Wednesday, urging people boycott the Duvall special, which airs Friday, Jezebel reports. Calling the episode "lurid entertainment," Vivian Kubrick fired against Dr. Phil, saying she is "in complete disgust."
