READ TIME: 1 MIN.

It's been over a year since the first season of "Sense8" debuted on Netflix. Fans have been patiently waiting for the second season, which is likely to premiere next year, and speculating on rumors of a Christmas special.

But Netflix reportedly confirmed this week that there will indeed be a "Sense8" Christmas special, according to Screen Crush. Though there are no other details about the episode, Netflix says it will be available to stream on Friday, Dec. 23.

There is still no word on Season 2, which is thought to debut sometime in 2017. Back in May, the cast of the LGBT-diverse epic sci-fi drama were spotted making out during Sao Paulo Pride. Also in May, it was reported that one of the Wachowski sisters, who co-created and co-wrote/directed the show, left the series.

"Sense8" star Jamie Clayton explained Lily Wachowski wouldn't be part of the series in order to "focus on her well-being" after coming out as transgender. Her exit leaves Lana Wachowski, who is also trans, to helm "Sense8." In addition, actor Aml Ameen quit "Sense8."
