Annette Bening Opens Up About Trans Son
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
In a new interview with The Guardian's Observer, actress Annette Bening opened up about her transgender son, Stephen Ira.
Though most of the interview was about her new film "20th Century Women," Bening took time to talk and praise Ira, 25.
"I'm super proud of him," she told the newspaper. "I leave it to him to say what he wants about his life. I don't think it's fair for me to speak for any of my kids, quite frankly. Not that I wouldn't like to!"
Warren Beatty, Ira's father, made similar statements when speaking to Vanity Fair in October, calling his son "a revolutionary, a genius and my hero."
According to Twitter, Ira is the cofounder and coeditor of Vetch: A Magazine of Trans Poetry and Poetics. Read more about him by clicking here.
In other Bening news, "The Kids are All Right" star is set to make her first major TV role with Ryan Murphy's upcoming "Katrina: American Crime Story," where she'll play then-Lousiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco.
