After Reacting to Gay Rapper, Rap Trio Migos Walk Back Comments: 'We Love All People'
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The Atlanta rap group Migos is apologizing after comments they made in a Rolling Stone profile piece, taking to Twitter to say they "love all people."
In the story, Migos' members Quavo, Offset and Takeoff had an odd reaction when they learned fellow Atlanta rapper iLoveMakonnen came out as gay last month and that he's since received a lot of support.
In his piece, Rolling Stone writer Jonah Weiner said he mentioned Makonnen's coming out, which sparked an awkward "interlude" from the rappers:
I mention support I saw online for Makonnen's decision. "They supported him?" Quavo asks, raising an eyebrow. "That's because the world is fucked up," says Offset. "This world is not right," Takeoff says. "We ain't saying it's nothing wrong with the gays," says Quavo. But he suggests that Makonnen's sexuality undermines his credibility, given the fact that "he first came out talking about trapping and selling Molly, doing all that."
After story was published, it didn't take long for the press to point out Migos' troubling remarks. Hours later, the critically acclaimed rap group took to social media and issued a statement, walking back their original comments, the Independent points out.
