UK Tabloids Report Olympic Diver Tom Daley Had Alleged Affair with Male Model

READ TIME: 3 MIN.

Last month British Olympic diver Tom Daley and his fianc screenwriter/director Dustin Lance Black opened up to the U.K. tabloid The Sun, explaining they were back together after a secret seven-month break.

The Sun is now reporting Daley, 22, had an 18-month affair with male model Edward William, while Black, 42, was working on the upcoming LGBT rights history miniseries "When We Rise." The newspaper reports the athlete and William, 27, randomly met in 2014. After striking up a friendship, William was reportedly invited to parties at the couple's South London home.

According to The Sun, Daley allegedly invited the model while Black was in America filming his show.

"Ed said the messages Tom sent would say things like, 'I'm home and horny, can you come round?'" a source told the newspaper. "Others would say, 'Lance is away, are you going to be about?'"

They added: "Ed told them it was a purely physical relationship with not much emotion involved. He said Tom was very confident and forward with a huge sex drive."

The Sun writes William's relationship with Daley was an "open secret among sections of the local gay community."

"Ed met Dustin socially at the start of the friendship, but he thinks he did not know Tom was contacting him privately," a source told the newspaper.

"His and Tom's meetings had an air of secrecy about them," the source later added. "Ed is not sure about Tom and Dustin's relationship and has said that perhaps they have an agreement that each of them can do what they want."

According to The Sun, the alleged affair ended in 2015, but they recently got in touch.

"Tom has been in touch, but Ed is not interested as he is with someone else," the source told the tabloid.

Daley and Black's interview with The Sun last month came after an explicit Snapchat video surfaced online, showing Daley in his underwear. Daley allegedly sent the video to a fan he was flirting with online. Speaking with the British tabloid, the couple revealed they were on a secret break because they didn't want to be in a long distance relationship.

"It was the distance. It's not like I actually met up with anyone," Daley said at the time. "I'm 22 years old, and if you talk to someone through social media, it is what it is. It was nothing more than that. We never physically met."

"...in the modern world this is what can happen - things are more accessible online and distributed, and they spread like wildfire," Daley added. "People are just exploring and finding out what can be done and how easy it is to not even think about what you're doing online."

Daley went on to say that he nor Black "have secrets in our relationship."

"We're honest and open about everything. When we were back together, I told him everything," Daley said. "Lance and I had a period of time apart, and then coming back together and realizing we're meant for each other. We're soulmates - and the only way that we were going to get back to that point was to be honest, open and share everything that happened in our time away from each other."

The men went on to say they still plan to get married and start a family.

In another report from The Sun, published Tuesday, the newspaper points out the couple "showed no signs of stress as they stepped out together" during a screening for Black's "When We Rise."
