'Star Trek' Actor John Cho to Play Billy Eichner's Boyfriend on Hulu's 'Difficult People'

Billy Eichner has a new boyfriend - on Hulu's comedy series "Difficult People," that is. Deadline reports "Star Trek Beyond" actor John Cho will have a recurring role as Eichner's TV boyfriend.

In the upcoming third season of "Difficult People," which will air this summer, Billy (Eichner) "has finally met his romantic match with Todd (Cho), his first real boyfriend," Deadline writes. Todd is an advertising executive "who's as much of a dick as Billy" and his BFF Julie (Julie Klausner).

"Billy and Todd connect after neither of them backs down from a prank war, and season three follows the pair as Billy has to navigate 'couple' things, having only had Julie has a soul mate previously," Deadline adds.

Cho made headlines last summer for playing Sulu in "Star Trek Beyond," the film where the character sort of came out as gay. In a brief moment, Sulu is seen embracing his husband and daughter. Of course, controversy ensued when LGBT activist and actor George Takei, who played Sulu on the original "Star Trek" series, took issue with making the character gay in the new films.
