Watch: The 'Hi Stranger' Clip is the Weirdest Viral Vid of the Year
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
If you've visited any social media site this week, you've probably come across the "Hi Stranger" video. Or maybe a friend tagged you to watch it. Or maybe, you came across it and have been secretly watching it 3 times a day.
Either way, the short, creepy and hypnotic video is one of the weirdest clips to take the Internet by storm. Created by Los Angeles artist Kristen Lepore, who worked on the popular Cartoon Network series "Adventure Time," "Hi Stranger" features an animated creature with a soothing voice and no nose. In the clip, the creature, voiced by Garret Michael Davis, whisper sweet nothings, before sketching "all your beautiful shapes."
In an interview with Skwigly, Leopre explains she got the idea for the video when she found an old sketch on a Post It. The drawing was made by "Adventure Time" head writer Kent Osborne.
"Immediately when I got to it this character just came to life for me and I had all these ideas," she explained. "So I emailed Kent to be like 'Hey I have this whole idea for a film based on this Post-It note you gave me, is it cool if I adapt this character?' and he was totally cool with it.
"So I changed to design a little bit and messed with it and sort of created a personality for this simple doodle that was just on a Post-It note," Leopre said.
