Harry Styles Opens Up But Remains Cagey on His Sexuality
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Gay rumors are almost an occupational hazard when you're a member of a boy band. And yet, although he's just embarked on a solo career with the release of his debut solo album last week, former One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles doesn't seem to mind keeping people guessing.
In an interview published by British tabloid The Sun, Styles opened up on a variety of topics ranging from life on the road to putting together his eponymously named debut album.
During the interview, the subject of Miley Cyrus' much publicized pansexuality came up.
"Being in a creative field, it's important to be progressive. People doing stuff like that is great. It's weird for me - everyone should just be who they want to be," Styles told The Sun. "It's tough to justify somebody having to answer to someone else about stuff like that."
Asked if he labelled his own sexuality, Styles said: "No, I've never felt the need to really. No."
And although he's rumored to be in a relationship with chef Tess Ward, Styles, declined to elaborate on being straight, bi or pansexual.
"I don't feel like it's something I've ever felt like I have to explain about myself," he said.
In 2014, at the peak of One Direction fame, Styles was the subject of numerous gay rumors, the most bizarre of which claimed that he had an affair with then US President Barrack Obama.
