Cops arrested a Brooklyn man for pummeling a woman unconscious on a Q train after yelling anti-gay slurs at her and her girlfriend, New York Daily News reported on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old man, Antoine Thomas, got into an argument with a woman over a seat on the Q train as it was entering DeKalb Avenue station at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night, said police sources.

He reportedly shouted, "Faggot! Dyke!" at the women as he bumped into them while they sat on the train. When they asked him to calm down, he assaulted them, repeatedly hitting one woman until she was unconscious.

The 24-year-old woman was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where she was treated for a concussion, broken eye socket and several cuts requiring stitches.

Thomas fled the train but a transit cop later arrested him. He was charged with assault, menacing, and harassment, but was somehow released without bail after a brief arraignment proceeding in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Sunday. The NYC Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the attack, and charges against him could be upgraded to a hate crime, said officials.
