Pop star Halsey gave an interview with The Guardian this week, where she seemed to defend homophobic remarks made by rapper Quavo, of the popular Atlanta rap trio Migos. But after a Twitter backlash, the singer is offering an apology of her own.

Earlier this year Migos spoke with Rolling Stone and commented on fellow rapper iLoveMakonnen, who just came out as gay at the time.

"They support him?" Quavo asked, referring to Makonnen's fans. Migos' Offset and Takeoff respectively added: "That's because the world is fucked up" and "This world is not right." Quavo added that Makonnen lost credibility because "he first came out talking about trapping and selling Molly..." but walked back his comments by saying, "We ain't saying it's nothing wrong with the gays."

Migos later apologized on Twitter.

When speaking to The Guardian, Halsey, who identifies as bisexual, responded to the comments as Quavo appears on a track on the pop singer's new album "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom."

"I don't think he's inherently homophobic," she said of Quavo. "Just because I choose to be a socially conscious artist, and I'm pretty good at it, that doesn't mean every artist is going to be equipped to be politically correct."

But Twitter users were quick to drag Halsey, believing she was defending the rapper's problematic statements. The hashtag #HalseyIsOverParty was used in a number of tweets.

Halsey took to Twitter to apologize for defending Quavo in a series of tweets. She also asked he apologize as well.

Katy Perry, along LGBT rights supporter, also got heat when Migos was featured on her single "Bon Appetite."
