Watch: Twins Discovered They are Both Gay After Hooking Up with the Same Guy
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
This will probably top your craziest high school story.
Social media personalities and twin brothers Michael and Zach Zakar took to YouTube earlier this month to share their one-of-a-kind coming out story.
Back when they were in high school in 2011, the Zakar brothers weren't close with each other and were both closeted, assuming the other twin was "the straight one." An acquaintance of Zach, whom they described as "an emo string bean," approached Michael and asked him, "Do you want to make out in the bathroom?"
"I didn't think anything of it. I thought 'Oh cool, someone wants to make out with me... this is exciting!' " Michael recalls.
The two made out in a bathroom stall until two guys on Zach's rugby team walked in. Michael freaked out and bolted out of the bathroom, but the jocks spotted him as he was leaving.
It didn't take long before rumors started to spread - except the Zakar twins' classmates confused the brothers and thought it was Zach hooking up with a guy in the bathroom.
When Michael returned home that day, he explained to his brother, who had been out sick, that the entire school thought he was gay.
"My only response was, 'Huh. I thought no one caught me in the bathroom..." Zach said, referring to the same guy Michael made out with.
"Three days prior, I fooled around with [the same guy] in the same bathroom," Zach said. "Michael did the same thing, but got caught like a dumb ass."
The explain a light bulb went off and they both realized they're gay.
"We ended up coming out to each other because we fooled around with the same guy," Zach said. "Moral of the story: Never do things in a bathroom stall."
"I'm glad it happened," Michael said. "And I wouldn't have done it another way."
"I would!" Zach adds.
The Zakar twins aren't the first set of identical brothers to share their coming out story. Back in 2015, the Rhodes brothers' coming out video went viral. Austin and Aaron Rhodes recorded themselves coming out as gay to their father on the phone. After gaining online attention, the brothers, along with their dad, were invited on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
