Mixology :: Not Just a Pretty Face - Flix' Alex Garcia
Kevin Plautz READ TIME: 2 MIN.
There's a new fresh face on the scene on University Avenue in Hillcrest and favorite neighborhood bar Flicks grabbed him first.
Known for its welcoming, fun atmosphere, this "family" bar has been in business for over 33 years and is the best place in town to meet people of all ages and backgrounds, get to know the neighborhood and make new friends as you do.
The Rage Monthly sat down to learn more about this 24-year old bar-back who landed in San Diego a short while ago, hailing from Woodland, California.
Where did you go to school? What was your major?
Sacramento State, Kinesiology.
What brought you to San Diego?
Two sister siblings living here. I was also dating someone who was moving down here for school.
How long have you lived in San Diego?
It will be four years in September 2017.
Did you work in the bar industry before Flicks?
I started working as a bar-back in Pacific Beach upon moving here. Then I was a server in Mission Beach.
Before you were an employee at Flicks, I heard you had a run-in with the Flicks Security staff. What happened?
It was a Sunday Funday, many moons ago... I was caught "doing the dirty" in a bathroom stall at Flicks. Six weeks later, I was working at Flicks.
How did you get hired at Flicks?
I was at Flicks with some friends on a Saturday and one of the regulars came up to me and said that I should join the underwear contest because of the free drinks. I had just enough tequila shots to join in the fun. Even doing a stiff and awkward dance, I won the contest.
