In a new interview with the Advocate, "Younger" star Nico Tortorella, who has identified as sexually fluid, is opening up about his relationship and sexuality.
Tortorella, 28, has been in an 11-year relationship with fitness and lifestyle entrepreneur Bethany Meyers, who identifies as lesbian.
"I think for so long there's been like one quote-unquote normal way of life," the actor told the Advocate. "And anybody that doesn't live in that structure needs to find a home of sorts. And I think labels are really important for kids, especially, [who] can't find their tribe where they are, and need to go find their people, their family. For that reason, I think labels are extremely important."
He goes on to say that he and Meyers don't refer to each other as "boyfriend" or "girlfriend" or even "partner."
We're family," he said.
Tortorella, who hosts a podcast about love and sexuality called "The Love Bomb," goes on to talk about sex, dating apps and hookup culture.
"For me, sex is such an explosive exchange of energy between two people that if you're not connected, energetically, before you have sex, it can be damaging," he said. "I totally understand people who want to have casual sex.
I think what you have to do in this scenario is stay in your lane. Find people who want similar things - physically, energetically, and emotionally," he added.
