Bulleit Bourbon Owner Responds to Homophobia Claims by Heiress

The owner and global distributor of Bulleit Bourbon is responding to claims by the alcohol company's founder's daughter, who alleged she was pushed out of her family's business because she's gay.

Hollis Bulleit took shared a few lengthy Facebook posts, claiming she was ousted from Bulleit Bourbon over her sexuality. But a spokesperson for Diageo, which owns and distributes Bulleit, told SF Gate that is not the case.

The spokesperson said Hollis' claims were inaccurate and come after the company and failed to agree on new contract terms.

"It is unfortunate that we were not able to come to terms on the multi-year contract that we recently offered to Hollis," the statement reads, according to SF Gate. "However, to insinuate that the failure to do so was due to bias of any kind is simply unfair and inaccurate. We are very proud of our long track record of work, through many of our brands, to support the LGBT community. We are appreciative of Hollis's past efforts on behalf of the brand and the industry."
