Thousands of people are expected to participate in The Glitter Run, a first-of-its-kind 5K fun run/walk on Sunday, August 20, in which people of all shapes, races, cultures, ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities will join together to celebrate the power and beauty of diversity.

Presented by the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the family-friendly event (free for kids 12 and under) will welcome people of all abilities and is supported by Premier Sponsor Macy's; Grand Sponsor Tito's Handmade Vodka; Major Sponsor Hornburg Jaguar Land Rover; and Supporting Sponsor Los Angeles Chargers.

While traveling along scenic Hollywood Boulevard, within view of iconic landmarks that include the Hollywood sign, TCL Chinese Theatre, and the Capitol Records building, participants will be sprinkled with seven colors of non-toxic, washable glitter as they pass through seven "glitter stations."

The Glitter Run is not a timed competition, it's a run/walk that's fun for people of all ages, sizes, and abilities. The route is approximately 5-kilometers (or 3 miles).

Participants receive a commemorative medal, a Glitter Run towel and free entrance to our Dazzling Dance Party! You'll also get your choice of an official Glitter Run T- shirt or tank top.

"Now more than ever is the time for us to unite in celebration of our diversity, in joyful and determined defiance of the forces that seek to divide and weaken us," said Los Angeles LGBT Center CEO Lorri L. Jean.

"We think The Glitter Run will be embraced by all kinds of people citywide and beyond who want to come together to share some sparkle and uplift during these unsettling times," said longtime community organizer Leif Green, a principle architect of the new event.

"Some seek to divide people along color lines," added Craig Miller, the founder of AIDS Walk Los Angeles and part of the team producing the new event. "We seek to unite people in an enduring line of color."

The Glitter Run will be held at 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 20 kicking off at Hollywood & Highland Red Line Metro Station, Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028 and going to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, McDonald/Wright Building, 1625 N. Schrader Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028.
