Supergirl - The Complete Second Season

There's no stopping the Maid of Might! -- in true superhero fashion, the Last Daughter of Krypton proved faster than a speeding bullet, as "Supergirl" - The Complete Second Season dodged cancellation on a major television, network before finding a proper place alongside its peers on The CW, and now the adventure has come home on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD! Starring one-time "Glee" cast member Melissa Benoist in the famous cape and colors, "Supergirl" is a contemporary adaptation of the famous DC Comics heroine.

Though CBS passed on giving the show a second season, The CW which is home to "Arrow" and "The Flash" opened its arms and welcomed "Supergirl" into its fold, allowing the series -- in its sophomore outing - to soar in the ratings. The series' showrunners wasted no time in upping the ante when the new season introduced Supergirl's famous cousin, the Man of Steel himself -- Superman (played by fan-favorite Tyler Hoechlin) - in a two-part arc that set up the tone for much of the episodes that followed.

When her mentor, the media mogul Cat Grant (played by series regular Calista Flockhart) decides she needs a change of scenery, Kara Danvers (Supergirl's alter-ego, also played by Benoist) is challenged with defining her new independence, just as an enemy -- a sinister shadow agency named Project Cadmus -- is preparing to launch all-out war against what it considers the threat of "alien invasion"! The mystery around the super-powered interloper named Mon-El (Chris Wood) also introduces a new dynamic, as Kara finds a new ally in her fight for truth and justice.

Season 2 of "Supergirl" also introduced a love interest for Alex (series regular Chyler Leigh) when Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) moves into National City as the head of its Special Crimes Unit; this leads into the series most dramatically stirring arcs as Alex comes to terms with her feelings for another woman and the most authentically satisfying portrayals of a same-sex relationship on TV. It's a big "love fest" for everyone this season, until Mon-El's tyrannical mother, a Daxamite Queen played by Teri Hatcher, follows her son's trail to Earth and invades the planet!

This season also featured the beginning of the epic 4-episode crossover event "Invasion!" that brought together all the super-powered casts of The CW/DC Comics primetime live-action series, which guest-starred "The Flash" Grant Gustin, re-teaming with his "Glee" alumni Benoist for an all-out interplanetary brawl, before the pair appeared in the highly anticipated musical episode "Duet" of "The Flash" -- available on the Season Three set of that series!

The Blu-ray is packed with bonus features including the exclusive live panel discussion from Comic-Con 2016 which unveiled the introduction of Season Two's two men of steel, as well as secrets from the set including a special insider's look at the epic "Alien Fight Night" from the "Survivors" episode. Keeping with the theme of the season an additional featurette explores the "Aliens Among Us" and a special "Conversation with..." executive producer Andrew Kreisberg and episode director Kevin Smith, with accompanying commentary on "Supergirl Lives".
