In a case of guilt by name association or collateral damage, Tony Award-winning playwright Harvey Fierstein found himself embroiled in the controversy surrounding disgraced Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein last week.

Taking to Twitter, Fierstein wrote: "I'm a good gay! I mean, a good guy. - Guys, We're Mad At Harvey WEINSTEIN, Not Harvey FIERSTEIN!"

As Page Six reports, the outspoken LGBTQ rights advocate joked about how he's been taking flak from some of social media who mistaken him for the scandal-plagued Weinstein.

"Between a hurricane and a Weinstein, this Harvey is yearning for the days when people mistook me for an invisible rabbit [the Harvey of a Jimmy Stewart film]," Fierstein said.

For the record: Harvey Fierstein is the the openly gay playwright and actor who has been honored four times with Tony Awards for his work on "Torch Song Trilogy," "La Cage Aux Folles," and "Hairspray." Harvey Weinstein is the multiple Emmy and Oscar-winning producer and co-founder of the Weinstein Company who has been recently accused of a lifetime of sexual harassment.
