After 22 years of honoring and dragging the glamorous gowns worn by celebrities, E! announced Wednesday it is pulling the the plug on "Fashion Police," Variety reports.

"Fashion Police," a talkshow style series that was the platform for the late Joan Rivers to skewer pop culture, will come to an end next month with a series finale special honoring the comedian.

First airing in 1995, "Fashion Police" initially began as red carpet coverage event that jolted Rivers' career. The comedy legend often appeared with her daughter Melissa Rivers before award shows, interviewing celebrities about what they were wearing.

The show took on a different format later on, becoming a talkshow style panel show, where Joan and Melissa spoke with a number of comedic and fashion-centric guests.

"Fashion Police" continued after Joan's death in 2014. Kathy Griffin took over as host for awhile but she was later replaced with Melissa. Variety reports the show's last episode was in September for the Primetime Emmy Awards.

"What's been consistent through all the years has been a love of fashion, and that started with Joan," Gary Snegaroff, senior VP, original production for Wilshire Studios, which produces "Fashion Police," told Variety. "The only thing she loved more than fashion was getting a laugh, so this combined her two loves. She always felt that fashion was something to be discussed, not to be taken too seriously, and that's the show we put together."

The special, called "Fashion Police: The Farewell," will air Nov. 27 on E! at 8 p.m. It will be hosted by Melissa and the show's current panelists, Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, NeNe Leakes and Margaret Cho. The show will also honor Joan and feature a series of highlights from her career, including clips from an unaired episode about 80s fashion.

"We're going to take a look back and celebrate some of the show's most memorable moments and hosts and gags," E! president Adam Stotsky told Variety. "It's an opportunity to celebrate the franchise, celebrate Joan and how much we miss her, and pull back the curtain and show fans some things that they haven't seen."

Melissa also weighed in on "Fashion Police" coming to an end.

"I am so proud to have been a part of this show and am so proud that it's part of my mother's legacy," Melissa Rivers said. "It really changed, along with the red carpets, awards-show programming and fashion."
