Joel Taylor, a star on the popular Discover Channel TV show "Storm Chasers," was found dead on an Atlantis gay cruise in the Caribbean this week, the Daily Mail reports. He was 38.

According to a report from TMZ, law enforcement said Taylor could have died from a drug overdose, adding he "was consuming controlled substances."

A passenger who "interacted with" Taylor also spoke to TMZ, which writes Taylor "consumed enough GHB on the dance floor Tuesday that he was rendered unconscious and taken off the dance floor by two people and back to his room."

"We can confirm that Joel Taylor has passed away while on a cruise," funeral director Richard Duggar II told CNN on behalf of Taylor's family. "The cause of the death has not yet been determined. We ask for your understanding during this difficult time and your respect for the family while they deal with the loss of their son. "

A rep for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Harmony of the Seas told TMZ Taylor was found unresponsive in his cabin Tuesday.

The site adds drugs like ecstasy and cocaine were allegedly on the boat and that "several people" were arrested at the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. port for possession of drugs.

Olivia Newton John performed on the boat Tuesday along with DJ duo Galantis.

Taylor's "Storm Chasers" co-star Reed Timmer announced Taylor's death via Twitter Tuesday.

"RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor," Timmer wrote. "I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend. We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I'll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend."

Taylor and Timmer documented their time in Tornado Alley during the 2003 storm season for "Tornado Glory." In 2007, the duo stared in "Storm Chasers" where Taylor served as meteorologist and driver.
