Adele Says She Got Ordained So She Could Marry Her Gay Best Friends
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Taking to Instagram this week, Adele said she got ordained so she could marry her best friends, U.K. TV host and comedian Alan Carr and his now-husband Paul Drayton, in the backyard of her Los Angeles home.
"Seeing as the cat's out the bag. I married two of my best friends in January. You know me any excuse to dress up...," Adele captioned a photo of herself, draped in white and standing behind a wall of white roses. She also hashtagged the pic with #LoveIsLove.
Carr has been with his partner Drayton for 10 years and recently discussed his plans for the wedding. Speaking with BBC's "The One Show," the talk show host opened up about the ceremony and Adele's role - that she actually planned the wedding.
"She planned it. It was in her back garden," he said. "We've known her for ages and told her we were getting married and she said, 'Can I please plan the whole day for you?'
"So she organized everything," Carr continued. "She's the kindest, sweetest, most generous person ever. It's all at her house. We go in there and there's a grand piano and a man playing 'Ordinary People' then we all sang, and did this first dance. It was absolutely amazing."
Carr goes on to say that he could "never repay her."
"She's a one off, as we all know. She's just the best," he said.
Speaking with "This Morning," Carr added Adele sang during the couple's first dance but wouldn't reveal the song she sang.
"I can't tell you, it's private," he said.
