PopUps: Ryan Murphy Dishes Details on 'American Horror Story' Season 8

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The news season of "American Horror Story" won't debut until the fall, but the anthology series' co-creator Ryan Murphy is offering new details about the upcoming season, rumored to be subtitled "Radioactive."

Murphy said Season 8 will start shooting in June and confirmed that "AHS" vets Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates will be part of the cast. As previously announced, Joan Collins will join the FX series for the first time.

At a recent "AHS: Cult" pre-Emmys event, Murphy also confirmed that "AHS: Cult" stars Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman will be part of the new season, Variety reports.

"They don't have to ask if they're coming back because they're all coming back," Murphy said.

The producer, who will be leaving Fox this summer after signing a huge overall deal with Netflix, also revealed the new season will be "set in the near future."

"I will say it is set 18 months from today," Murphy added.

He also said Season 8 will be more "fantasy inspired" and "heightened."

"We're sort of getting back to the 'Asylum,' 'Coven' feeling. That's the tone of it," Murphy said.

Porter asked about the diversity of Season 8 and Murphy said, "three of our leads are indeed minorities."

Murphy also dished about Peters' Season 8 character.

"Your part this year is a comedic part," Murphy told the actor, who has appeared in every season of "AHS." "You are our comedic and you play a hairstylist."

The producer also confirmed Collins will be playing Peters' grandmother on the show.

Peters took to Instagram over the weekend and shared a photo of himself with his hair in large rollers. He captioned the photo "#ahs."

Murphy was also asked if Anjelica Huston would be joining the cast after the producer mentioned the possibility last week. According to Deadline, Murphy said, "[we're] talking. I love her."
