Slumber Party: The Judy Garland Suite at Boston's Lenox Hotel

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

June 10 would have marked Judy Garland's 96th birthday, and if you're looking to become bedfellows with the legendary Hollywood star, there is no better place than Boston's Lenox Hotel.

Located in the heart of Back Bay and overlooking the Boston Marathon finish line rests historic and gorgeous suite 423, which Garland graced with her presence each visit to the city. She first fell in love with the Lenox in 1939 while on a promotional tour for MGM, and the legendary singer would return to the same suite throughout her life -- including stays in 1961 when she appeared at the Boston Garden in front of a sell-out audience, in 1965 when she called the suite "home" for over three months, in 1967 when she gave a memorable live performance on The Boston Common heard by over 100,000 people, and shortly before her death in 1969.

The Judy Garland Suite channels the opulence of old Hollywood glamour with a lavishly designed apartment-style layout that pays homage to the musical icon with 650 square feet of luxurious space graced with an over-sized relaxation area, pillow-top king-size bed, lavish marble bath, and overhanging vintage crystal chandelier. The suite nostalgically surrounds guests as they enjoy dramatic and sweeping views of the hustle and bustle of Boston's historic Boylston Street.

The Judy Garland Suite was restored in 2008 for $300,000 with hand-painted finishes, excellent craftsmanship and unique millwork that blended old and new, and the original mirror that the divine diva gazed at during every stay.

The hotel plans to commemorate Garland's birthday with artifacts throughout the hotel and a Judy Garland-themed brunch at the hotel restaurant, City Table, complete with performers, movies, themed menus and more.
