Spence Herron, 48, was charged with three counts of sexual assault by a teacher, principal, assistant principal or other administrator engaging sexual conduct with another individual, Cobb County police said.

Authorities set the teacher's bail at $50,000.

Herron was a video production teacher at Kell High School, located in Marietta Ga., for 15 years and was selected as Teacher of the Year during the 2016-2017 school year.

According to the arrest warrant, Herron is accused of repeatedly texting a female student who met with him on school property for a non-existent club meeting, CBS 46 reports. During these meetings, Herron allegedly made sexual advances and allegedly groped the student. The meetings occurred between May 31 and September 2016.

"Said accused told said victim to 'be quiet' when she began crying because it hurt," the warrant reads, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. "Said accused insisted that he did not use protection because he was 'fixed.'"

The student told police she was groped four times. She also said she engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse at Herron's request multiple times beginning in January 2017. Police said the assaults continued through the following school year.

"The district is aware of the allegations and has been cooperating fully with the police investigation," Ga school district spokesperson told CBS 46.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the student accusing Herron of sexual assault is 16 years old but her name is not being revealed because she was a minor when the relationship began.
