Watch: Trailer for Bradly Cooper & Lady Gaga in 'A Star is Born' Remake Drops
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
The trailer for the newest remake of "A Star is Born" was released Wednesday.
Bradley Cooper stars, and also directs the musical drama - his first foray into filmmaking. Lady Gaga also stars, in her first leading role in a studio movie.
"A Star is Born" is a "tragic love story" where Cooper "plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers - and falls in love with - struggling artist Ally (Gaga)."
"But even as Ally's career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons," Warner Brothers' description of the upcoming film reads.
"A Star is Born" also stars Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle, and Sam Elliott. It was previously reported that "RuPaul's Drag Race" stars Willam and Shangela also appear in the film.
In less than 24 hours since being shared on YouTube, the trailer for "A Star is Born" has already earned over 1.2 million views.
This will be the fourth time "A Star is Born" has been turned into a feature film. The 1976 version of the movie stars Kris Kristofferson in the Cooper role and Barbra Streisand in Gaga's role. The 1954 version stars James Manson and Judy Garland; that film was based on the original 1937 feature starring Fredric March and Janet Gaynor.
Cooper's "A Star is Born" was initially set for a May release, but Warner Brothers has since moved it to October, signaling that the film could be an Oscars contender, which makes sense as the movie has already generated buzz. Warner Brothers debuted the trailer back in April at CinemaCon, which earned "hearty, and rare, applause from the crowd of the theater owners and exhibitors," the Associated Press wrote at the time.
"A Star is Born" hits theaters Oct. 5. Check out the new trailer below.
