CNN's Kaitlan Collins Responds to Making Homophobic Tweets 7 Years Ago

After coming under fire, CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins is apologizing for homophonic tweets she made while she was in college, USA Today reports.
Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Collins said the 7-year-old tweets were made while she was attending the University of Alabama.
"When I was in college, I used ignorant language in a few tweets to my friends. It was immature but it doesn't represent the way I feel at all," she tweeted. "I regret it and I apologize."
Collins made her apology after she came under fire when screenshots of two tweets she apparently made in 2011 started to go viral on Sunday. The conservative LGBTQ group The Log Cabin Republicans was one of the first to share the images of Collins' tweets, according to USA Today.
In one tweet, the reporter apparently wrote at the time, "Prologue to Canterbury Tales, you fag." In the other, she writes that she doesn't know if she wants to "room with a lesbian."
