After Instagram Post, Actor Taron Egerton Discusses Sexuality

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

U.K. actor Taron Egerton made headlines earlier this month after he shared a photo of another man on his Instagram. He captioned the pic, "Cutie. My boy," adding the heart emoji. Of course, it sparked fans to inquire if this was the "Kingsman" star's coming out moment. Responding to one commenter, Egerton wrote, "...he's mine and mine only."

Egerton, who will play Elton John in the upcoming biopic "Rocketman," is now opening up about fan speculation over his sexuality. Speaking with the Radio Times to promote his "Robin Hood" film, the actor cleared things up.

"One of the lads was at my London flat and I Insta-grammed a picture of him and said, 'Look at this cutie,' and a million outlets reported I was coming out as gay," he said. "I'm not gay but two of my mates came out when I was 15 and it was a joy to support them because, as a group, we are all secure in who we are."

"I'm certainly not going to stop calling my mates cuties and gorgeous, because they are cuties and they are gorgeous," Egerton added.

Later on in the interview, he discussed costarring alongside Kevin Spacey for the little-watched "Billionaire Boys Club" film that quietly dropped earlier this year.

"He was never inappropriate with me," he told the Radio Times. "There's a fine line, though, between someone being an audacious flirt and being predatory? I thought he was the former. It's sad his professional demise threw a shadow over our film."

He also recently spoke with Jimmy Kimmel about playing Robin Hood. Check that vide out below and click here to read the full Radio Times piece.
