READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Social media star and singer Cameron Dallas is talking to his fans after he was arrested by police in Colorado on Saturday, CNN reports.
An ambulance was called to the Hyatt Residences Grand Aspen around 5 a.m. on Dec. 29. CNN reports a man was bleeding from facial injuries, according to a statement from the Aspen Police Department. The man told authorities he was assaulted and cops later arrested Dallas, 24, who was a guest at the hotel.
Dallas was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault, which is a felony, police said. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released. He's scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 22, CNN reports.
The social media star took to Twitter after the arrest, posting his mug shot and a message to his 16.1 million followers.
"Unfortunately sometimes in life you find yourself in a situation where you have to protect yourself and the people you care about, have a safe and happy new year, 2019 is going to be an amazing one," he wrote on Dec. 31.
He also tweeted: "Be safe tonight, have fun, and be ready for your 2019 goals."
Dallas, who recently released a single "Why Haven't I Met You?," rose to fame on YouTube and the now-shuttered video app Vine. He also has his own Netflix series called "Chasing Cameron," where fans get to go "behind the scenes with social media sensation Cameron Dallas as he takes his career to the next level on an international tour."
