Scruff Bans Users from Showing Off Jockstraps in Profile Pics

The gay dating app Scruff is banning its users from using jockstraps and other underwear in their profile pictures, blaming the decision on Apple's App Store's regulations, according to a report from Out magazine.
CEO Eric Silverberg made the announcement about the changes to the terms of use via the app's website where he suggested the lack of rules could lead Scruff to being banned from the App Store.
"Given that Scruff is a community that speaks openly and positively about sex, bodies, and intimacy, some feel that such policies are at odds with those values. Such criticism is not unfounded," Silverberg wrote. "Scruff respects the concerns voiced by our community on this matter, and we encourage everyone to continue to hold us, and all tech companies, accountable for the content and conduct standards we enforce."
Out reports Scruff users received a pop up messages on Wednesday, alerting them to the change.
"Profile photo guidelines are changing," the notice reportedly said. "To comply with platform policies, photos in underwear, jockstraps or bikini style bathing suits are no longer permitted in profile photos."
Out notes that photos that do not comply to the new rules will automatically be converted to private album images and users will be asked to pick another profile photo.
Silverberg also said Scruff was briefly removed from the App Store earlier this year and that if the ban was permanent it would have been "devastating to our company and our community."
