Watch: Adam Lambert Announces He & Queen are Performing at the Oscars
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The Oscars ceremony may be without a host but they won't be without a queen.
Adam Lambert took to Twitter Monday to reveal he will join Queen to perform at the 91st Academy Awards this Sunday.
"We will rock The Oscars," he tweeted along with a video clip.
The Academy also confirmed the performance in a tweet.
The announcement comes as "Bohemian Rhapsody," the biopic about the rock band and its late frontman Freddie Mercury, is nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Editing. Rami Malek, who plays Mercury, is up for Best Actor.
Despite making over $840 million worldwide (becoming the highest-grossing music biopic ever), the film received mix reviews and has come under great controversy. Its director Bryan Singer was fired from the project shortly before filming wrapped and also clashed with Malek. Nevertheless, he still kept directing credit but again came into the spotlight this time after sexual abuse allegations were published in the Atlantic, which Singer vehemently denies.
