A news anchor for a Los Angeles station died of toxicity from an overdose of methamphetamine taken during a sexual encounter arranged via Grindr, reports Variety.
Chris Burrous was 43 years old when he died last Dec. 27. He was taken to the hospital from a motel in Glendale, California, after the man he was with realized Burrous had stopped breathing, media reports said. Burrous' companion administered CPR to Burrous and phoned for help, reported The Blast. Burrous died at the hospital.
The Blast, among other sources, said that Burrous had taken two rocks of meth anally over the course of an afternoon of sexual activity with the other man. Other drugs were also involved, including poppers and GHB, though reports also indicated that Burrous did not use the latter drug.
The news anchor's companion was not identified, but reports said that the two had met several times before.
The New York Post noted that Burrous had worked in New York, at WPIX 11. The news anchor is survived by his wife and their 9-year-old daughter.
