Rami Malek Censored by Chinese TV for Using Words 'Gay Man'

When Rami Malek accepted his Oscar this past Sunday night, he called Freddie Mercury was a "gay man, an immigrant, who lived his life unapologetically himself, and the fact that I'm celebrating him and his story here tonight is proof that we're longing for stories like this."

In China, though, Mango TV, one of the two channels to broadcast the awards live, censored the words "gay man," replacing them in the subtitles with "special group,"
