It's Official: Glenn Close to Reprise 'Sunset Blvd.' Role for Musical Film

Glenn Close will reprise her role as failing actress Norma Desmond for the movie musical adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Sunset Boulevard," which is based on the 1950 Billy Wilder film, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting.
Rob Ashford, the Tony-winning choreographer, is set to direct the movie of the Broadway adaptation. Close will return to the role, which she played twice on Broadway before, once in 1994, which earned her a Tony Award, and again in 2016.
Webber is among the producers for the movie.
THR reports production may start in the fall.
Ashford won a Tony in 2002 for "Throughly Modern Millie." He's worked as a choreographer for a number of Academy Awards shows and recently helmed the live TV adaptations of "The Sound of Music" and "Peter Pan Live!"
Close, a seven time Oscar nominee, was nominated for a Best Actress at the 91st Academy Awards but lost in an upset to Olivia Colman for "The Favorite."
