The USA Network anthology series "The Sinner" has been renewed for a third season and Matt Bomer is set to star in the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bomer, who previously was in the network's "White Collar" drama, is set to star alongside Bill Pullman in the new season of "The Sinner."

Pullman is reprising his role as Detective Harry Ambrose for the third season, which will track the character as he investigates a car accident and discovers a crime that drags him into the most dangerous and disturbing case he's ever handled. Bomer will play Jame, a Dorchester resident and a father-to-be who goes to Ambrose for support after the crash.

The openly gay actor took to Instagram to announce the news to his fans.

"Beyond excited to work with the incredible cast and creative team on @thesinnerusa, a show I'm already a huge fan of," he wrote. "It's also nice to be coming home to the place where it all began, @usa_network . Wait until you see what's in store for season 3!"

"The Sinner" Season 1 starred Jessica Biel, who serves as an executive producer, and Season 2 with "The Leftovers" breakout, Carrie Coon. Biel earned an Emmy nomination for her role.
