Details on 'Transparent' Musical Finale, Fate of Maura Finally Revealed
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
After cutting its star Jeffrey Tambor due to allegations of sexual misconduct last year, "Transparent" is finally sharing details about its finale, which, as promised, will be a musical feature, Vulture reports.
Amazon released the first photos of finale, which is officially called "The Transparent Musical Finale." It's set to hit the streaming service in the fall.
"The episode begins with the passing of Maura [Tambor] and will follow the Pfefferman family as they come together in their grief and celebrate her life," an Amazon press release says.
Amy Landecker, Jay Dupla, Gaby Hoffman, Judith Light, Kathryn Hahn, Trace Lysette, Cherry Jones, Tig Notaro, Melora Hardin, and Rob Huebel will all appear in the finale.
Vulture reports creator Jill Solowy wrote a version of the musical with their sibling faith as a live musical, which was performed at Joe's Pub in New York City last year.
Tambor, who won two Emmy Awards for playing Maura, was fired by Amazon in 2018 after his former assistant, a makeup artist and "Transparent" costar Lysette accused him of sexual misconduct. He apologized for "any action of mine [that] was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being sexually aggressive or if I ever offended or hurt anyone" but said he's "not a predator and the idea that someone might see me in that way is more distressing than I can express."
"Transparent" ran for four seasons and debuted in 2014. The comedy has won eight Emmy Awards during its run, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Tambor), Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series (Soloway), and more.
