Get Immersive with 'The Little Mermaid' at the Hollywood Bowl (and Don't Get Wet)

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Everyone's favorite redhead is swimming back to the iconic Hollywood Bowl this weekend in an all-new Concert event. "The Little Mermaid: An Immersive Live-to-Film Concert Experience" will take over the Bowl's screens but with a twist – instead of the voices you've been familiar with for the past thirty years, some of your favorite celebrities will be providing the singing voices of the beloved characters.

As the film plays on the massive screens for all 18,000 guests to watch, when it's time for one of Alan Menken's cherished songs to begin, a special guest will appear on the Bowl stage to provide a new take on the classic score. But who?

Lea Michele will provide the singing voice of Ariel (sorry, Lindsey Lohan); Harvey Fierstein will cackle his way through the role of Ursula; funny man Cheech Marin will "hee hee hee, haw haw haw" as Chef Louis; Peter Gallagher ("Grace & Frankie") will tower as King Triton; former boy bander and "Westside" cast member Leo Gallo will charm you as Prince Eric[ and Ken Page (the voice of "Oogie Boogie" from "A Nightmare Before Christmas") will delight fans as jittery crab Sebastian.

Of course no celebration of "The Little Mermaid" would be complete without composer Alan Menken gracing the stage.

While audiences will get to hear their favorite tunes belted by this celebrated cast, to make the night even more special some of the songs from the Broadway version of the film will be incorporated into the event as well.

Even better? The entire Bowl will be transformed into a "Hollywood Fish Bowl Dive-In Theatre" that truly puts patrons "under the sea." This includes state-of-the-art projections and "living scenery" that will bring the faade of the Bowl to even greater life.

To go with the "Dive-In" theme, the night will also feature aquatically-themed previews of coming attractions, retro snack bar commercials, and the 1938 Silly Symphony cartoon, "Merbabies," that will feature the world premiere of a live original score composed and performed by a 17-year old piano prodigy Emily Bear. In addition, there will be a Little Mermaid costume contest and photo opportunities throughout.

It will surely be a one-of-a-kind night to remember and become part of your world forever.

"The Little Mermaid: An Immersive Live-to-Film Concert Experience" plays this Friday and Saturday (May 17th & 18th) at 8 pm at the Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave., Los Angeles. For tickets and more information, please visit www.hollywoodbowl.com.
