A Boy George Biopic is in the Works

Following the recent trend of successful musician biopics such as the Academy Award winner "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the more recent "Rocketman," MGM is producing a Boy George picture, The film is set to tell the story of his working-class beginnings and his rise to stardom in New Wave group Culture Club during the 80s.

The movie, still untitled, is set to be written and directed by Sacha Gervasi, who" s="" no="" newbie="" to="" biopics="" or="" to="" music="" movies.="" Gervasi="" previously="" helmed="" heavy="" metal="" origin="" story="" "Anvil:="" The="" Story="" of="" Anvil"="" and="" the="" biopic="" "Hitchcock"="" about="" the="" iconic="" "Psycho"="" director.="" Also="" attached="" to="" the="" project="" is="" Kevin="" King="" Templeton,="" producer="" of="" both="" "Creed"="" films.
"There is no filmmaker better suited than Sacha Gervasi to tell George's confessional story with the irreverence and emotion it deserves," said MGM Motion Picture Group president Jonathan Glickman, according to Variety
. "We couldn't be more thrilled to be working with both of them to bring this remarkably honest and wildly entertaining tale to audiences around the world."

MGM has also greenlit an Aretha Franklin movie which will reportedly star Jennifer Hudson. There is no release date yet for the Boy George movie.
