A fugitive suspected of molesting a child in his home state of Oklahoma turned himself in to police in connection with the stabbing death of a 64-year-old gay New York City man, reports the New York Post.

24-year-old Alex Scott reportedly fled Tulsa, where he was on bail as a suspect in a sexual molestation case involving a five-year-old child. Scott is alleged to have removed an ankle monitor before heading to New York.

Once in the city, Scott is suspected to have met a gay antiques dealer named Kenneth Savinski on a dating app, met up with him and then went home with him. Once at Savinski's home, Scott is alleged to have stabbed Savinski, gashed his throat, and strangled him before making off with the older man's credit cards, cash, and other property, UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported in an article.

Assistant District Attorney Shira Arnow explained how authorities in NYC were able to see the two men "walking arm in arm" in footage captured by security cameras.

Said Arnow: "The victim thought this would be a romantic liaison," while Scott, the ADA alleged, "thought this would be an opportunity to rob and attack."

Instead, Savinski ended up dead, with multiple stab wounds to his head and neck. Scott is suspected of having strangled Savinski to death after stabbing him, the Daily Mail article said.

Referencing security video once again, Arnow said: "Two hours after we see him go into the victim's apartment, he leaves."

Savinski's body was discovered in his home by a friend on the evening of Jan. 29.

After allegedly using Savinski's credit cards and money to procure food and clothes, Scott went to a police station on his own accord on the morning of Jan. 31 and claimed to have little memory of the preceding days. Scott reportedly also said he thought he "may have killed someone," media accounts said.

Media accounts noted that Scott had left Oklahoma for New York once before, just after having inappropriately touched a five-year-old in 2019. He left Tulsa before being questioned by police, but officers in Long Island placed him under arrest. Scott said at the time that he intended to kill himself. After being returned to Tulsa, Scott was charged with two counts of "lewd molestation," accounts recalled.

Reports said that Scott is expected to face a murder charge as well as theft charges.
