READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Ryan Murphy's next Netflix show, "Hollywood" will be here sooner than you think.
The seven-episode limited series about the golden age of the Hollywood studio system will hit the streaming service on May 1, according to a press release.
"Hollywood" will follow "a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood as they try to make it in Tinseltown – no matter the cost."
"Each character offers a unique glimpse behind the gilded curtain of Hollywood's Golden Age, spotlighting the unfair systems and biases across race, gender and sexuality that continue to this day," the synopsis of the show reads. "Provocative and incisive, 'Hollywood' exposes and examines decades-old power dynamics, and what the entertainment landscape might look like if they had been dismantled."
The drama also boasts an all-star cast, including Darren Criss ("Glee," "American Crime Story"), David Corenswet ("The Politician"), Broadway legend Patti LuPone, Samara Weaving ("Orange is the New Black," "The Handmaid's Tale"), Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory"), Dylan McDermott ("American Horror Story," "The Politician"), Holland Taylor ("Two and a Half Men"), and more. Guest stars include Maude Apatow ("Euphoria"), Rob Reiner ("All in the Family"), and Mira Sorvino ("Aphrodite").
Murphy cowrote the show alongside his "Glee" collaborator Ian Brennan and "Pose" collaborator Janet Mock. The trio also serve as executive producers alongside Alexis Martin Woodall.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Corenswet will play Jack, a combination of actors Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift and James Dean.
