The Biden campaign has added out former ambassador Rufus Gifford as a deputy campaign manager, reports the Washington Post.

Gifford served as ambassador Denmark for the Obama administration. He was appointed to the post in 2013. In 2012, Gifford served as finance director for Obama's reelection campaign. He ran for Congress in the 2018 midterm elections but lost in the primary.

The Post quoted an anonymous source who said that Gifford would "focus on places where finance intersects with policy and political work and will also occasionally serve as a spokesperson for the campaign."

The Post noted that the Biden campaign is being managed by Jen O'Malley Dillon, who added Gifford to serve alongside two other deputy campaign managers, Pete Kavanaugh and Kate Bedingfield.

Gifford teased news of his new role in an April tweet in which he posted a photo of his husband, Dr. Stephen DeVincent, with the caption, "Starting a pretty important job on Monday.

Until then I'll focus on my most important job: husband to this guy."

"(And yes I cooked dinner!)" Gifford added.
