'Dead to Me' Stars Down for Virtual Table Read
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The stars of the Netflix series "Dead to Me" are set to follow in the footsteps of other celebrities who banded together virtually to create rough and ready entertainment.
In this case, series stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini will be joined by co-star James Marsden and creator Liz Feldman for a table read that re-creates, sort of, the premiere episode of the complex comedic mystery series. The read goes live at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT) on Netflix Facebook on May 7, just before the second season drops on Netflix May 8.
Applegate portrays Jen on the series, a widow whose husband's death from a hit-and-run may not have been an accident. Cardellini plays Judy, whose fiancee has also died. The two meet in a support group, become friends, and start to unravel puzzles behind the death of Jen's husband - though, as it happens, Judy knows more about the secrets at play than she's willing to reveal.
As with other star-studded high-profile virtual events, the table has a charitable extra purpose. Reports Deadline:
The cast will also be raising awareness for World Central Kitchen. Founded by Chef Jos Andrs, World Central Kitchen is working to provide meals for kids and families impacted by COVID-19.
The second season has already garnered rave reviews, with CNN praising the new season for its "smart execution" and Uproxx taking note of the warmth and realism of the show's central friendship despite its larger-than-life revelations.
