'Midsommar,' 'Hereditary' Director Ari Aster Says Next Movie is a 'Nightmare Comedy'

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Ari Aster, the director behind some of the scariest films of the past few years – "Hereditary" and "Midsommar" – gave an update on his next movie, calling it a four-hour-long "nightmare comedy."

In an interview with the Associated Students Program Board at UC Santa Barbra, Aster said he finished a new draft of the film, according to IndieWire.

"All I know is that it's gonna be four hours long," he said.

Aster is likely not kidding, either. His director's cut version of "Midsommar," about a group of college students who visit a Swedish commune, had a runtime of nearly three hours. And before that movie was released, he compared it to "The Wizard of OZ" but for "perverts."
