Justin Bieber Responds to Sexual Assault Accusation, Denies Claims & Says He's Taking Legal Action
READ TIME: 3 MIN.
Justin Bieber took to Twitter Sunday evening to respond to a woman who recently alleged that the pop star assaulted her in 2014. A second woman also took to Twitter to accuse Bieber of sexual assault in 2015 but the singer did not respond to her accusations.
Pitchfork reports that a woman identified as Danielle tweeted a lengthy statement on June 20 detailing that the alleged incident took place in March 2014 in Austin, Texas. She wrote that she attended a small event hosted by Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.
"My friends and I were enjoying ourselves the entire night," she wrote. "A man then approached me and my friends and asked us if we would like to wait after the show to meet Justin. Of course, we said yes.
"My friends and I thought it was strange at first and sketchy, but as promised, we all waited after the show because we were fans," Danielle's statement goes on to say. "Justin came up to us, we took some pictures and chatted for about 20 minutes."
Danielle alleges that Bieber and another man invited her and her friends to the Four Seasons Hotel.
"Once again, we said yes. We didn't think anything of it, other than hanging out with a huge celebrity," she wrote. "Fast forward to arriving at the hotel. Justin's friend brought my 2 friends to a room, and then he took me to another room. Justin had made me agree not to say anything to anyone, or I can get in serious legal trouble. He asked for my phone and put it to charge."
She went on to say that Bieber "asked me to join him in bed," and wrote that they kissed briefly. Danielle adds that Bieber "pushed me down onto the bed," undressed her and that she "told him that this was going too far and that [they] should stop." Bieber allegedly told Danielle to "relax," "pulled my underwear down," and "forced himself inside me before I got the last few words out." She also adds that she was 21 years old at the time and that Bieber was 20.
"I was still sexually assaulted without consent. Fast forward to late last year, I finally decided to speak up about it," she writes, adding that she told her close friends and family of the alleged incident.
Her Twitter account has since been removed.
A second woman identified as Kadi detailed another alleged incident on Twitter after Danielle shared her messages. Retweeting Danielle's post, Kadi wrote the alleged incident took place in May 2015 in New York City's Langham hotel. She wrote Bieber kissed and groped her before allegedly penetrating her without consent, adding that she pushed and kicked the "Sorry" singer and ran from the scene.
Kadi's Twitter is still active and her posts are still up as of this writing.
The Twitter account Pop Crave has both of the women's statements.
Bieber did not respond to Kadi's allegations but fired off a series of tweets defending himself with regards to Danielle's statement, saying he "will be working with Twitter and authorities to take legal action."
"I don't normally address things as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career but after talking with my wife and team I have decided to speak up on an issue tonight," he tweeted. "Rumors are rumors but sexual abuse is something I don't take lightly. I wanted to speak out right away but out of respect to so many victims who deal with these issues daily I wanted to make sure I gathered the facts before I made any statement."
Bieber goes on to post screenshots of people's tweets, magazine articles and photos of hotel receipts to argue against Danielle's claims.
"We have also confirmed with the Four Seasons regional manager that I was never on the property on the 9th of March 2014 and never a guest on the 9th or the 10th and I welcome all press to inquire with them if needed or wanted," one of his tweets read.
