Out actor and "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson played a gay dad on the popular ABC television series. Now and his husband, Justin Mikita, have become fathers in real life.

People Magazine broke the happy news, announcing the birth of Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita, on July 9.

Ferguson's representative told the magazine:

"Jesse and Justin welcomed their little bundle of joy Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita on July 7, 2020.

"The new parents are overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family of three."

Writing on the news, UK newspaper the Daily Mail cited that Ferguson had spilled the beans about his and Mikita's impending parenthood early this year during an appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden."

Ferguson told the talk host:

"This is something I haven't even mentioned to anyone, if we could just keep it between the three of us and you all, but I'm actually expecting a baby in July with my husband."

Ferguson made a biological clock reference, saying, "let's get this show going. Tick tock."

"Modern Family" ran for 11 seasons, from 2009 until this past April. During that run, Ferguson played Mitchell Pritchett and Eric Stonestreet played Mitchell's husband, Cameron Tucker. The two were fathers to an adopted daughter, Lily.

After that role, Ferguson went on to become the host of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," media sources noted.
